Teyana Taylor may have taken a step back from being the music star she is, but she’s still putting work in behind the scenes. As creative director of her The Aunties production company, she helped Lola Brooke choreograph her Summer Jam debut set — then celebrated the rising star for her execution.
“Dear Lola Brooke, ya Summer Jam debut went out with a bang! You should be very proud of yourself. You got IT!” she wrote on Instagram alongside clips of the rehearsal, the performance and their warm embrace afterward. “We literally only had two four-hour rehearsals, but I had no worries. ‘Cause I knew you could and would kill that s***.”
“I want to thank you and ya amazing team for trusting The Aunties and knowing that you were in good hands,” Teyana continued. “This is just the beginning. So be ready to reach beyond the stars.”
Teyana, who just celebrated the release of her new Air Jordan 1 collaboration, also lent her creative directing skills to Summer Walker, who performed a one-night-only show June 1 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta. Summer had been criticized for her onstage presence, but was praised alongside Teyana on Twitter following the performance.
